Athletes information from A to Z

Arrival
We highly recommend to all participants and visitors to use the public transport and to leave the car at home.
You may find detailed information for the arrival on our website.

Authorization of participation
The participation at the Ironman Zurich Switzerland is possible only after having reached the age of 18 years.
Youth from 14 years upwards may participate in the Züri Triathlon.

Bike doctor
The urgency bike service/doctor (Scott) is located near the transition area on the Landiwiese from Wednesday to Sunday. For opening hours please check the timetable. On the competition day, several mobile reparation vehicles will be available on the race course. Moreover there will be additional reparation material ready available at the aid stations.

In case a bike cannot get repaired by the urgency Bike Doctor (Scott), we recommend:

  1. Temposport in Thalwil
  2. Santa Monica Sport in Zurich

Camper/Camping
Information and booking at Camping in Zurich.

Competition briefing
The briefing on the competition is compulsory for each athlete. It will take place on Friday afternoon in different languages in the tent. Please watch the time at the timetable.

Check-in
At the check-in, the bike and the helmet will be deposited in the transition area.
The check-in of the bike and the helmet is compulsory and will be carried out on Saturday, July 24th, 2010. The respective hours according to the timetable are binding. On Sunday morning, registration and check-in for the Ironman Zurich Switzerland will be closed!

Check-out
To check-out the bike from the transition area, it is necessary to bring the chronometer chip and the bib number. The organizer does not take any responsibility for bikes not being collected by 12 p.m..
The chip has to be handed back at the check-out from the transition area. Anyone not handing back the chip or losing it has to pay CHF 80.-- to the organizer.

Attention: Anyone losing the chip on the race course will be disqualified.

Deregistration
General conditions:

The deregistration / race number may not be sold, given away nor being kept for next year!

Reimbursement from BK Sportpromotion AG

Until 31.01.2010:  50% reimbursement
From 01.02.2010 to 30.04.2010:  25% reimbursement
Starting 01.05.2010:  no reimbursement

This applies in all cases, including injuries, business appointments etc.

These reimbursement conditions also apply for the entries to the Welcome Party and the Awards Banquet.

Registration on-site
At the registration on-site, a personal identification and, if available, a licence will be checked.

Food and beverages
General information on food and beverages is available on the internet.

During the bike race, drinks will be handed out in bottles.
During the running, drinks will be handed out in goblets.

Attention: Check the rules regarding the personal food shortly before the competition.

Hotel
Information and booking at Kuoni Destination Management

Hotspots/Highlights
“Heartbreak Hill” in Kilchberg. A speaker and “Trychler” groups entertains the audience on top of the steepest part of the bike course, whilst they can enjoy a nice meal in a restaurant. To cheer the athletes along the race course give aways and free instruments will be distributed to the spectators from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.. To get to the Heartbreak and back again 6 free shuttle buses will be available from the train station Wollishofen.

Further animation provided by speakers will be given at the food and beverage station “Natascha Badmann” in Feldmeilen and “Relax Station” on Forch.

Ironkids / Ironteens
All boys and girls into sports and aged 5 to 14 years are cordially invited to participate in the Ironkids / Ironteens.
The Finisher will be rewarded with a nice backpack.

Licence
An official triathlon licence (for the day or the year) is compulsory for the participation at the Ironman Zurich Switzerland and at the Züri Triathlon. A day licence may be obtained at the registration for CHF 30.--/EUR 20.-- .

Live-Ticker
During the Ironman Zurich Switzerland 2010, there will be a live coverage.

Lost and found
The collection point is the information point on-site.
On Monday, the lost objects will be transported to the Awards Banquet (Albisgüetli).
After that, the objects will be kept at BK Sportpromotion AG in Schlieren.

Neoprene suit/Wetsuit
Neoprene suits are allowed up to a water temperature of 24.5° C (=76,1° Fahrenheit). It is expected that this temperature will not be exceeded and therefore wearing neoprene will be allowed. The actual water temperature will be displayed at the information point.
Wetsuits can be rented according to the timetable at the Triathlon-Expo, Landiwiese. Costs: about CHF 50.--, EUR 33.--.

Parking
Due to the fact that the competition centre is in the heart of Zurich, there are no parking possibilities nearby. We recommend the parking Allmend, Albisgüetli or the parking decks in the city.

Photo service / tv service
Action Sports International (ASI) is providing a the photo service. ASI takes photos of the athletes en route and in the arrival. The photos can be ordered and downloaded later on www.asiphoto.net. In addition to ASI we have a partner recording all finishs on video tape, which will be available shortly after the competition on www.triathlontv.ch.

Recommendations regarding traffic
The accesses and exits to/from the competition site Landwiese are closed for all traffic on July 24th, 2010 from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on July 25th, 2010 from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.. Please use the public transportation.

The registration to the Ironman Zurich Switzerland 2011 will open on Monday, the 26th of July 2010.

What needs to be done prior to the competition?
 

  1. Take at the registration the starting slot envelope and make sure that it contains the following contents: race number, bath cap, chip, helmet numbers, sticker for the brake cable, sticker for the clothes bag, athletes' bracelet IMS, information form for the athletes
  2. Check-in of the racing bike and the helmet
  3. Competition briefing
  4. Check-out

Regulations
The participants are responsible for starting the race in a well-trained, physically healthy condition. The actual regulations of Swiss Triathlon as well as the competition regulations must be strictly observed. Traffic laws must be adhered to and instructions from referees and race officials must be complied with.

Swimming
Start: mass departure in the water at 7 a.m.. Professional athletes start at 06.55 a.m..

Toilets
For the athletes, there will be toilets in front of each food point (run- and bike course). For the spectators of the Ironman Zurich Switzerland, there are enough toilets on the Landiwiese.

Transition area
On Saturday, July 24th, 2010 the transition area will be closed at 7.30 p.m. and reopened only on Sunday morning at 5 a.m.. Private materials (running shoes etc.) have to be deposited by 6.45 a.m. on Sunday, July 25th, 2010 in the transition area. The bikes and helmets are not to be removed from the transition area. Attention: There is no check-in on Sunday morning!
We explicitly draw your attention to the fact that the personal belongings are in the sole responsibility of the athlete. We do not take any responsibility for the security or the custody or an eventual missing of the personal belongings.

Time limit
Time limit for the course security

Swimming 2 hours and 20 min. 9.20 a.m.
Swimming and biking* 10 hours 5 p.m.
Swimming, biking and running 16 hours 11 p.m.

• All athletes approaching the food station Forch „Relax Station“ after 4 p.m. will be accompanied by motorbikes of the organizer, as the streets in Zurich will be given back to the traffic. Any athlete passing the Landiwiese in direction of Heartbreak Hill after 4.45 p.m. has to finish the race early.

The race ends at 11 p.m.

Runners arriving later will not appear on the ranking list.
